حاتم بن عبداللہ بن سعد الطائی ایک عرب شاعر تھے۔اور عدی ابن حاتم کے والد تھے۔ان کی سخاوت کی کہانیا ں آج تک زندہ ہیں،آپ نے٥٧٨ ہجری میں وفات پائی۔ آپ کا تعلق “طے” نام کے قبیلے سے تھا۔ وہ یمن کا حکمران تھا۔قصہ حاتم طائی کی شہریت ساوتھ اشیا سے ہوئی۔حاتم کے بارے میں بے شمار کہانیاں بھی بیان کی گیئں۔جن میں حاتم کے قصے اپنی مثال آپ ہیں۔۔
عرب پر ان دنوں نوفل نامی بادشاہ کی حکومت تھی۔جو کی حاتم کی سخاوت سے پریشان تھا،حاتم طائی کا گھوڑا بہت قیمتی تھا ایک دفعہ ایک شخص اس کا امتحان لینے پہنچ گیا،
حاتم طائی اس روز شکار کے لئےنکلامگر اسے کوئی شکار نہ ملا۔گھر پہنچا تو ایک مہمان انتظار کر رہا تھا،ملازم کو کھانا بنانے کا کہا۔اس نے کہا سرکار آج کھانے میں گوشت نہیں بنے گا کیوں کے تازہ گوشت موجود نہیں۔حاتم کی غیرت اس بات کو گوارہ نہیں کرتی تھی کہ اس کے دسترخوان پر گوشت نہ ہو۔اس نے کہا آج میرا محبوب گھوڑا زبح کر کے پکا لو۔۔
کھانا تیار ہوا،حاتم نے اپنے مہمان کی خاطر تواضع میں کوئی قصر نہ رکھی،جب مہمان رخصت ہونے لگا تو اس نے مہمان نوازی کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔اور سوچا کے حاتم کی سخاوت کے قصے تو بہت سنے ہیں ،چلو آج آزما لیتے ہیں ۔مہمان کو ان کا گھوڑا بہت پسند آیا تھا۔اس نے عرض کی اگر آپ اپنا گھوڑا بھی عنایت کر دیں تو بہت بات ہو گی ۔مجھے وہ گھوڑا بہت پسند آیا تھا۔آپ نے کہا اگر یہ فرمائیش پہلے کر دیتے تو اچھا تھا،اب وہ گھوڑا آپ کی خاطر مدارت میں صرف کر دیا ہے۔
آپ نے مہمان کو مجبوری بتائی اور ،اشرفیں کی تھیلی اسے دی اور کہا کے آپ اس سے بہتر گھوڑا بھی خرید سکتے ہیں،مہمان شرمندہ ہو گیا اور افسوس کرنےلگا کہ اس کی وجہ سے،حاتم کو مشکل کا سامنا کرنا پڑا۔اور انہوں نے بہترین چیز قربان کر دی۔۔مہمان نے تھیلی واپس کرنے کی ناکام کوشش کی ،کیوں کے حاتم طائی نے کبھی اپنے مہمان کو نا امیدنہیں کیا تھا۔
اُدھر نوفل کا بادشاہ یہ سوچ رہا تھا کے اگر حاتم کا ایسے ہی چرچا رہا تو،لوگ بادشاہ کو چھوڑ کر اس کے گُن گایئں گے۔بادشا نے ایک سپاہی کو حاتم کے قتل کے بدلے کثیر رقم دینے کا کہا۔حاتم چونکہ اپنے ساتھ کوئی محافظ نہیں رکھتا تھا۔کیوں کے وہ جانتا تھا کہ موت وقت پر آنی ہے اور کوئی اسے بچا نہیں سکتا۔
سپاہی مہمان کے روپ میں ان کے گھر گیا ۔اور رات میں قیام کے دوران حاتم کے کمرے میں داخل ہوا،اور دیکھا کہ حاتم گہری نیند سورہا ہے۔سپاہی نے خنجر نکالا اورحاتم پر حملہ کر دیا۔مگر اسی وقت حاتم نے کروٹ بدلی اور سپاہی کا نشانہ چونک گیا۔اور وہ حاتم پر گر گیا جس کی بدولت ان کی آنکھ کھل گئی۔اور انہوں نے سپاہی سے پوچھا کہ کیا میری مہمان نوازی میں کوئی کمی رہ گئی تھی۔
سپاہی نے صاف صاف بتا دیا کہ وہ کس کے کہنے پر آیا تھا ،اور اسے رقم ملنی تھی۔جس سے اس نے گھر کی ضرورت پوری کرنی تھی۔حاتم نے کہا اگر ایسا ہے تو تم مجھے قتل کر دو۔حاتم کا یہ رویہ دیکھ کر سپاہی حیران رہ گیا اور فیصلہ کیا کہ اب ہمیشہ حاتم کے ساتھ رہے گا۔
حاتم نے اسے معاف کر دیا ،اور اسے اشرفیوں کی تھیلی بھی دی ۔کیوں کے حاتم کے گھر سے کوئی بھی خالی ہاتھ نہ جاتا تھا،مہمانوں کو زحمت نہیں بلکہ رحمت سمجھتے تھے۔۔
